This Session will cover the key recommendations within the publication: Living not existing: putting prevention at the heart of care for older people and highlight best practice examples. Participants will be asked to consider partnership working locally in light of the recommendations and how occupational therapy can be most effectively utilised.

  • How to deliver prevention and health promotion services to the older population.
  • The role partnerships can play in delivering a proactive, community based approach.
  • Effective deployment of occupational therapy to promote wellbeing and maximise independence in the older population.

 Karin is responsible for promoting the profession with key stakeholders and decision-makers and providing advice and information to occupational therapists to support best practice and service innovation. She leads at the College on health and social care for older people and public healthBefore joining the College, Karin worked in mental health for 22 years in a variety of settings from inpatient to community based services.  Other roles include facilitating practice placement education and delivering training and supervision services as an independent practitioner.
